Pelletized
TLA
BACKGROUND:
Despite
the fact that TLA is renown for its life-extending and
performance-enhancing benefits, the requirement of competitive
substitutes has demanded that TLA be made available in a more
user-friendly form. Some potential customers are reluctant to use TLA
because of the significant investment in equipment that is required.
In order to negate the need for this heavy initial investment and
provide a more user-friendly product, the company embarked on an
extensive research and development programme to arrive at an
alternative for TLA
from its traditional form.
In
1993, the company secured a patent for the pelletization of TLA. For
the next eight years, the company sought to transform this patent into
a commercially viable production process, capable of supplying its
existing and potential markets with TLA in the form of pellets.
In
1998, a TLA pelletization pilot plant was developed in the United
States. This pilot plant produced two sample runs of pellets, which
were used as the basis for laboratory and field testing. Between 1998
and 2003, the company, having attained the required governmental
approval and a Certificate of Environmental Clearance (CEC) from the
Environmental Management Authority(EMA), maintained a firm focus on
product testing, technology acquisition, manpower planning and market
development. The Pelletization Plant,
manufactured by GALA Industries in conjunction with Nitech
Corporation, both of the United States, arrived on LATT’s compound
in June 2004.
