Lake Asphalt
Trinidad
Lake Asphalt is the name given to the refined form of the
naturally-occurring deposit of asphalt found in the island of
Trinidad. TLA is used as a
modifier to enhance the properties of a bitumen-only pavement
and is mixed in controlled proportions with refinery bitumen to
produce a blend that can yield as much as three times the
service life that a bitumen-only pavement is expected to give.
