Refinery
Bitumen
Bitumen
is a by-product of refined petroleum. It is a black, oily
substance that rather than being disposed of, has long been
found ideal for road paving applications in coating the
aggregate to provide a cohesive, stable, bonded surface
capable of withstanding the heavy traffic typical of roads.
Lake Asphalt of Trinidad and Tobago (1978) Limited processes all
orders for the supply of 60/70 bitumen locally and regionally.
Refinery bitumen is also exported to various Caribbean
islands. The bulktainers containing refinery bitumen are exported via the Port of Port of Spain, emptied by the
customer and returned to Lake Asphalt.
